Today Windows
Embedded Compact 2013, the successor of Windows Embedded Compact 7, was released!
So what new in Windows
Embedded Compact 2013:
- Platform Builder is now a plug in for Visual Studio 2012
- Application development (native and managed) in Visual Studio 2012
- Current ARM and x86 compilers
- Supported CPU architectures: ARM v 7 Thumb 2, x86
- Due to the usage of the new compilers and the kernel core improvements ARM architectures prior to ARM v 6 Thumb 2 have been deprecated
- Improved file system performance
- Improved kernel performance
- 2 second boot is possible
- OS streamlining
- .NET Compact Framework 3.9
- Silverlight for Windows Embedded, now simply called XAML performance improvements
- XAML development in Blend 5
